Chicago Area High School 
Mechanics Clinics and Camps


West Suburban and DuPage Valley 3-Person Clinic (Wes Fritz and Jay Lyons)
This always-popular camp is run by Jay Lyons, boys' basketball assigner for the West Suburban Conference, and Wes Fritz, 
who assigns officials for the DuPage Valley Conference, the Upstate Eight Conference, and women's officials in the CCAC, an NAIA college conference. 
Many other assigners and Division I college officials will also be in attendance to evaluate and support, including LaMar Simpson, 
who is the assigner for WSC girls' basketball, and for men's officials for the Skyway Jr. College Conference. 
The camp fee is  $ 50.
A mandatory classroom/mechanics meeting will be held at Glenbard South High School. 
Games for floor work will be in Glen Ellyn on mostly Monday or Wednesday nights.

Harry Bohn & Tom O'Neill Camp and Clinic
2-Official and 3-Official Camps
This camp is run by Tom O'Neill, Division 1 Official and Harry Bohn, Head Basketball Clinician for the IHSA,
 and the assigner for the South Suburban, Metro High School Conferences, the N4C Junior College Conference for Men's & Women's and 
the CCAC, NAIA College Conference. We will also have a number of area High School assigners as well as 
Ken Maziarka from the CCIW and the East Suburban Catholic Conference in attendance.

MSL Basketball Officials' Clinic (Fred Allman)
There will be two clinics this summer, both a Level 1 (Two-Person) and Level 2 (Three-Person) clinic. 
The Level 1 clinic will be on Tuesday, June 12 at Schaumburg HS from 6 to 10pm.  
The Level 2 clinic will be on Thursday, June 14 at Palatine HS from 6:15 to 10:15 pm.
The Level 2 clinic will also include games to officiate.  Those games will be played at Palatine HS on June 15 from 3-9pm and on June 16 from 9 am-3 pm. 
When those games are filled, games will be available at other NW suburban sites on June 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26 and 27, along with July 2.
The cost for each clinic will be $50 and will include a pizza dinner. Certified Clinicians on staff will be Fred Allman and Jim Bernardi.

CSL Basketball Officials' Camp (Jeff Schwarz)
 We are offering two camps again this year that fulfill all IHSA requirements and are sanctioned by the IHSA. 
Our Level 1 camp (for less experienced officials, refs who want to work at the underclass level) is Sunday, June 3, from 5-9 pm.  
The Level 2 camp (for officials interested in learning or perfecting their 3-person skills) is on Monday, June 4, from 6-9 pm.  A Subway dinner is included for each clinic. 
Level 2 requires 3 hours of court time and the Niles West girls varsity summer league (Monday nights) will be used as our training ground. 
The registration form can be found by either emailing Jeff Schwarz  or by going to the CSL referee website at 
and then go to Referee Camps and printing out the form.  We are one of the only 3-person camps 
that will film one of your games and send you a DVD of that game for your review.


AOA-OPRF Summer League & Camp
Mandatory Classroom Session:  Thursday, June 7 – 6 p.m. at Montini High School, 19W070  16th Street, Lombard, IL
Games will played at Oak Park-River Forest High School on  June 12, 14, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26, 28, July 2
(campers must attend two of these dates)
This Officials Camp is designed to provide training and instruction to ALL IHSA Officials.  Meet your IHSA 6-Hour (Level 2) Certified Training requirement.
The camp is an excellent opportunity for officials who desire to learn 3-person mechanics from State-Tournament Series level officials.
Cost:  The cost of the camp is $70, which includes t-shirt, three hours of classroom instruction, dinner on clasroom night and three hours of supervised officiating.

Al Raya  College Basketball Camp for Officials

Al Raya, Coordinator of Officials for Women’s Collegiate Basketball, including the CCIW & Midwest Conference, will be hosting the Midwest Referee School in June.  This camp features experienced state clinicians & collegiate officials with NCAA tournament experience.  There will also be high school assignors & four collegiate officials will be in attendance.  Log on to for further information.

Great Lakes Valley Camp

There will be a camp this year  in Ft Wayne, and information is available at,  then click on GLVC Camp information to obtain all details as well as a camp application.  It is a great camp, the staff and the instruction are great, lectures and classroom and the price is very good.
